The hallmarks of a Winter Wonderland wedding are icy sparkle and plenty of shimmer. This is a very fun idea to capture in a bridal gown. Look for a lustrous white silk gown, rather than one in ivory or champagne. Choose a style that has a grand presence, such as a very full ballgown with a box pleated skirt. Then think about the details. Silver embroidery and crystal beadwork are a must! Heavy embellishments will not look like “too much” for this fantasy style wedding. As with any type of weddings, there are advantages and disadvantages to tying the knot in Sin City. Use this list of pros and cons to help you decide if a Vegas wedding is right for you.

Pro: Las Vegas is glamorous. A Vegas bride has the perfect excuse to choose a sexy beaded wedding gown with lots of sparkling crystal bridal jewelry. Imagine yourself as an extra in “Ocean’s Eleven” or a James Bond film with gorgeous ladies and dashing tuxedo-clad men in the high end casinos. Con: If you do not consider yourself to be a glamorous person, you may be uncomfortable with the sexy attitude of Vegas. Pro: Anything goes in Vegas. That is a large part of the appeal for many brides and grooms. Want a wedding that is whimsical, quirky, or just plain silly? You will be able to find whatever you want in Las Vegas. Especially if it is an Elvis impersonator.

Con: That whole “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” attitude. If you are the sort of couple who prefers a traditional and wholesome wedding experience, the whole Las Vegas vibe may be too much for your taste. Hint: if the word “conservative” is one which you use to describe your dream wedding, Vegas is not for you!

Pro: A quick turnaround. If you cannot possibly wait one second longer to get married, you can do it immediately in Las Vegas. There are no blood tests, no waiting time required after the marriage license is issued, and no pre-marital counseling. When romance calls, Vegas allows you to say your vows anytime, day or night.

Con: There is a good reason why some states or jurisdictions have laws in place which are designed to prevent impulsive marriages. Don’t forget that Vegas is also famous for its quickie divorces. Think of it this way: if you have known each other for a long time and don’t want to waste another day, a Vegas wedding could be ideal. On the other hand, if you just met at a casino last night, well, maybe waiting a little while to tie the knot is not such a bad thing!

One of the most appealing styles of decorations for a wedding is a nautical theme. Always crisp and classic, nautical elements look fantastic at weddings, whether they are near the water or landlocked. These are suggestions on nautical table decorations to use at your own wedding.

When you think nautical, think crisp, clean, classic, and fresh. Choose one or two main colors around which to plan your entire wedding theme. Great choices for a seaside style include navy, red, yellow, and white. Everything should have clean uncluttered lines, and you can have fun introducing a nautical motif as well. For instance, the ideal bridesmaid attire would be a strapless navy dress in a crisp cotton with a white sash and a pearl tin cup necklace. Your menu cards and place cards should always tie in with your theme. Place cards can be fairly simple for a nautical wedding; a white card with a navy border and an embossed anchor or shell would be great. For the menu cards, a coordinating paper can be used, or get creative and use nautical maps as the background for your menus. Old map prints are often very pale, and it is no problem to print over them legibly. Or go with a nautical flag motif for both the place cards and the menu. The flags can be printed across the top of the stationery; choose ones which spell out something significant, such as l-o-v-e, or the initials of the newlyweds.

The centerpieces are always the main design element of a wedding reception. The crisp style of a nautical wedding lends itself to simple floral arrangements in a single color. White, yellow, and red tend to be the best colors for the flowers, and select classic blossoms like roses or hydrangeas. To play up the nautical theme, one great centerpiece idea is to set a large hurricane lantern in the center of each table. Fill the hurricane with a large white pillar candle, and surround it with a floral wreath in your favorite color.

The final decorative accent for your reception tables is the wedding favors. There are plenty of fantastic options for a nautical theme wedding. Wine charms in the shape of anchors or ship’s wheels, cookies shaped like ships, and votive candles in a sea breeze scent will all tie in with a nautical theme and add another element of style to your wedding tables.
