Although the peacock is a gorgeous animal, would you have ever thought to use them as the theme for your wedding? Well, you may want consider this theme if you love bold colors, unique touches, and that touch of class and elegance that will put your wedding over the top.
The colors in peacock feathers lend themselves well to a wedding. With the blue and green shades, you can easily find a combination that works for your ceremony. Although the two colors listed above are the most predominate, there are others that can be mixed in as well. Some of those include; indigo, teal, aqua, olive, gold, copper, and bronze.
This theme can take you in a few different directions. When you think of these particular color combinations, the vibrancy makes you think of East India, Morocco, or even Arabia. However, it can also be a more vintage style wedding, which also works wonderfully. You could also go with an art deco theme, medieval, or southern theme. The possibilities are endless with such beautiful and vibrant colors.
Once you have settled on which direction you would like to take your ceremony, it is time to incorporate your theme into your ceremony. As we have already mentioned the colors definitely send you off in the right direction. Bridesmaid’s dresses in a green or blue hue would fit in nicely with the theme. The same goes for vests and ties for the groomsmen. The bride can add subtle hints of the theme colors with jewelry, a sash, shoes, or even a hair pin or comb.
A peacock theme also allows you to be very creative with your flower arrangements. The bride may want to carry a bouquet of Peacock feathers as opposed to the traditional bouquet. The same can be done with the bridesmaids as well. Feathers can also be added to any standing arrangements throughout the church or wedding facility. Some flowers that work nicely with the peacock theme are birds of paradise, orchids, and mini callas. For a more dramatic impact with the feathers you may want to have solid white arrangements with feathers added throughout.
When planning the reception think tassels, texture, and shimmer. Linens that complement each other work nicely at the reception. There are several ways that you can incorporate peacock feathers into the reception. You can choose to use feathers on the table setting, or if you are looking for something a little less exotic, you can purchase peacock shaped place card holders or napkin rings. You can also add feathers into flower arrangements and table centerpieces throughout the reception.
The cake is also another great way to incorporate your theme. If you want to be bold you can have your cake made in one of the bright hues discussed earlier, or you may want to go with a more subdued color with the feather pattern embellishments.
Although a Peacock themed wedding may sound a little outlandish, it really is an elegant theme that works beautifully.
