Fall Theme Wedding

The most popular times of year for a wedding are spring and fall. Fall has recently overtaken spring as more popular, for the rich colors and cozy romantic atmosphere it presents. October is a popular month, with Columbus Day weekend being very busy at function halls filled with wedding receptions.

There are reception halls that offer both indoor and outdoor options. But parks, vineyards, farms, ranches, barns, historic inns, mansions or orchards can provide the perfect backdrop as a reception location. Most locations in the world have beautiful fall days, but New England is known for it’s amazing falls. A rustic setting with leaves of all colors, create a cozy, intimate setting.

If you must choose an indoor setting, look for a location that has panoramic windows overlooking fall foliage, the countryside, or wide open space. A wedding at dusk provides that fall feel as the sun is going down and the cool air blows through.

Traditional fall colors such as rust, deep reds, orange and browns are great choices for table decorations. Mix in some metallic colors such as gold, bronze or copper to add a formal feel, especially with an evening wedding. Acorns, leaves, or twigs can make great centerpiece arrangements on your reception tables, in the celebration theme of fall.

Fabrics such as velvet match the look and feel of fall. Drape gold, brown or deep red velvet fabric as runners on tables, on windows and as hanging décor on the walls or from the ceiling.

Flowers such as mums, roses, and sunflowers compliment a fall wedding. A flower girl sprinkling pretty fall leaves instead of rose petals completes the picture. A great favor idea is hollowed out mini pumpkins. Fill them with metallic gold-sprayed acorns with the top piece with stem wedged in at an angle. The bride and groom names are typically stenciled onto a tag hanging from the stem with a metallic gold ribbon. Another great favor idea includes terra cotta pots filled with painted leaves.

A pumpkin wedding cake or dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate fondant and dark berries on top make wonderful fall themed cakes. The wedding dinner main course could be roasted turkey or roasted quail with all the fixings. And don’t forget the colorful cranberry mold with walnuts.
